SSD for ProRes?
I got a Crucial 480GB SSD the other day, and it works once after I format it (OSX journaled) but then comes up as NO SSD.
This seems to be a common thing, but I'm not sure what I need to do to solve this. I am NOT shooting RAW, so I'm not needing a swift data rate. Should I be formatting the SSD differently? Thoughts? Thanks. |

Re: SSD for ProRes?
Im afraid the only answer the BMD staff is going to give you is that the 480GB Cruscal is not on the list of supported SSDs.
Have you found anybody that have gotten it to work? Which camera is it? /M |

Re: SSD for ProRes?
It is the BMCC 2.5k . I thought BM's list was only for RAW compatibility. Nuts!

Re: SSD for ProRes?
Ok, no they have two lists, one for Raw and one for Prores. The Crucial 240GB is on the Prores list but not the 480gb.
If you cant return it to the store atleast they are easy to sell. Gamers seem to go through them like candy. |

Re: SSD for ProRes?
Had a similar problem with BMCC and San Disk Extreme 480GB, It's on the list but the current Extreme II didn't work very well - lots of skips. I never thought the difference between Extreme and Extreme II would be a big deal - but it was. If it isn't on the list right down to the "fine print" it probably will have some kind of issue.
I stuck the Extreme II in a caddy and the Atomos seems to love it. Last edited by Jim Andrada; August 8th, 2014 at 11:30 AM. |
