lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
does the lumix 12-35mm "OIS and Iris" work on the BMPCC? I also see a Speedbooster specific for the Pocket is out now. That could be a really nice setup. Getting wider and brighter from the Speedbooster.

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
I have this lens and the Pocket camera. Yes the iris and stabilization work with the pocket camera. The push button auto focus works as well. Althought not very fast.
I've been reading about the speed booster myself. Wish they'd make one for canon mount lens. The one that just came out is for Nikon mount. I have some canon glass.

Good to know, thanx. I was seeing people mentioning how Metabones seems to always avoid Canon lenses, for a long time now and wondder why. hmm

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
I use to own a sony fs100 and had the Metabones adapter for canon lens (not a speed booster). Work great. Been hoping for a canon speed booster. But might have to think about investing in some nikon glass if they don't come out with one.

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
Jeff,
Speed booster works with the Lumix 12-35 f/2.8, on the BMPCC, correct? That would help get it down to f/2.0 and a wider angle, like 24mm from the 33.6 mm (12mm with 2.8 crop factor equals 33.6mm (35mm equiv). That Pocket 2.8 crop factor makes it tough on the wide end. So if I am correct in my math, a 24-98mm, f/2.0 constant zoom with Power OIS that can shoot ProRes 10bit 422 and Raw. :-) $2114 for lens and camera and whatever the speedbooster costs. Do you know what the SB costs offhand? |

Nope the speed booster is for nikon lens. The 12-35 is a native micro 4/3 lens.
But look into the sigma 18-35 f1.7. Read an article that said this lens and the speed booster might make it the most perfect lens for the pocket camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/967345-REG/sigma_18_35mm_f1_8_dc_hsm.html

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
it says-Designed for APS-C-Sized Sensors. Pocket is MFT. ?? And I do not see anything on IS for that lens which is something I really would like to have.

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
The 12-35 is a great lens. But the speed booster isn't comparable with it.
The sigma is for apc sensors, just like a canon 50mm 1.2 is for full frame sensors. With the right adapter you can use just about any lens on the pocket camera. If I remember the article I read about the sigma, it's sharp as can be, and with te speedbooster, it's an f1.0. So one of the fastest and sharpest zooms available. When I get home fr work, I'll see if I can find that article and post a link.

Re: lumix 12-35mm OIS on Pocket
I found a DPreview article on that Sigma. But have not read it yest. What do you think of this lens on the pocket? it's like a 39 to 392mm f/3.5 to 5.6. yah, slower, but I like the Power OIS. $680 on Amazon. I have no lenses except two EFM lenses on my EOS M cam. So they fit nothing else out there except the M. I am saying I need a decent starter lens for the Pocket if I buy the Pocket. Or if Santa buys it for me.

I can't comment on that lens as I don't really know anything about it. I spent the money and bought the 12-35 f2.8. I really like the lens and feel its money well spend. I like constant aperture zooms myself.

I am with you on the constant aperture as well as low light. I have a long video background, so some things I am still learning in this dslr era.

Here is a brief, but conclusive, test of the OIS on the 12-35mm f2.8 on the BMPCC:
