Grading and Comparing Black Magic Pocket ProRes Files - Part II

Some more files from the Black Magic Pocket Camera.
We have decided to use Final Cut X for grading because we want to know how to get some useful pictures in a short time without using a color grading software like DaVinci.

Re: Grading and Comparing Black Magic Pocket ProRes Files - Part II

No surprise that grading flat scenes and adding contrast and saturation improves the look. The Pocket Cam footage looks like it holds up well.

Of course, the real challenge is to grade shots that include skin tones. Some of the gold and orange tones in the video look great on their own, but with a face in the shot, it might not be achievable without masking. Still, given the content in the scenes, the grades are beautiful.

Re: Grading and Comparing Black Magic Pocket ProRes Files - Part II

This footage appears to be very consistent with my BMCC EF. As it happens, it seem like about 98% of whatever I will do with the BM line is going to be ProRes, if I had it to do over again with today's choices in the BM line, I would probably go the Pocket camera route, primarily because it is so inconspicuous.
