Black Magic Cinema and Vintage Non-Auto Lenses

I have been shooting vintage Nikon and Pentax lenses with my Canon and Sony large sensor cams for quite a few years and my first shooting with the BMCC will be with those lenses, I expect. Has anyone with the Camera shot vintage lenses yet.

1. The obvious concern is difference in sensor size and effective angle of view, and I recognize those issues.

2. Has anyone seen any adapters that will increase light gathering while widening these lenses.

3. Anyone have any shots with the older non automatic lenses ?

As soon as I start testing mine I will give some input, but if you have already been there, please let us know what your experience has been.

1. Yes there is a crop

2. Metabones Speedbooster, but you have to wait for the M4/3 version of booster and camera. It also renders point 1. pretty much obsolete.

3. Yup, I do it all the time, works like a charm. Especially if you like the -more organuc -look of older glass.

Re: Black Magic Cinema and Vintage Non-Auto Lenses

I guess what i would be looking for is a speedbooster for EF mount to project the image of lets say my 50 mm Nikon len so that my BMCC gets roughly the same image as my full frame 5D. Is anyone making that out there ? If you did worry about the electronics, seems like something that would be made pretty cheaply.

Good to hear. Does it create any issues with firmware when camera does not have the electronic connection to the iris available ?

I will answer my own question. Its good all around. F Stop just goes black when a manual lens is attached.
