Basically just a term for a fan of Firefly. Browncoats were the name given to the army that resisted the Alliance in the show, of which the captain of Serenity was. Think "Trekkie" - Star Trek fan.

The actress was on an entertainment news show a few days ago. Without the glasses, the removable tooth braces and a dorky hairdo, she was passably good-looking.

Ask and ye shall receive...
They are recreating the characters of TOS, including Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty,Chekov, Uhura....These guys have a completely accurate replica of the TOS bridge and to date there have been more than 30 million downloads. Also, Tim Russ from Voyager has directed a new show using some of the original characters at their set.

The actress everyone is refering to is
America Ferrera, a latin american actress who came to fame in
'Real Women have Curves', and more recently 'The Sisterhood of the travelling pants'.
She's listed on IMDB.

So what do you guys think of the remastered HD Star Trek episodes that are currently airing late night on NBC? I can't get over the color saturation myself--the reds pop so hard I almost can't hear dialogue over them--but overall it's fun to watch. The new CGI effects shots are slightly disturbing, but at least in the spirit of the original (unlike Mr. Lucas' efforts).

I saw the Balance of Terror and thought the new CG was pretty understated. So a thumbs up for me.

The Mexican version, "La Fea Mas Bella", about a young woman named "Lety", seems to have the same basic theme, but a much different storyline. It's on Univision and is a significantly awful program. I may be mistaken, but I think that Lety is played by a guy. I watch it occasionally, along with others on this channel and Telemundo, to improve my facility with Spanish, so program content is secondary.

J. Stephen you're right, the mexican version is an awful version of the original, which was a Colombian telenovela called "Betty La Fea" and which was actually brilliant. However the main role in the mexican version is also a girl-it's not a guy...hahaha. Colombian and Venezuelan shows are usually better than mexican shows 'cause they're written and produced with a higher level of writing and directing.

Another browncoat reporting...

Alliance Commander: "You fought with Captain Reynolds in the war?"

Zoe: "Fought with a lot of people in the war."

Alliance Commander: "And your husband?"

Zoe: "Fight with him sometimes, too."
