"We Were Soldiers" Q & A Forum
Those who have seen the movie, "We were Soldiers", which replayed on CBS Sunday evening, may find this question and answer forum run by Joe Galloway, to be interesting and informative. He was the combat photographer who was portrayed in the story and who co-wrote the book. He seems very willing to answer all questions and be very forthright about them. He and co-author Lt. Gen. Hal Moore are working on a sequel called, "We're Still Soldiers", which is slated to be published in late 2007.
http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwash...q/qa_forum.htm Here's a link to the homepage for the book. Don't pass up the link to the story about Rick Resorla, one of the soldiers serving with Hal Moore in that Vietnam battle. http://www.lzxray.com/ From what many contributors to this and other discussion groups have said, it appears that the people and their relationships that were described in this story, were just as they were portrayed. Joe Galloway formed a lifelong friendship with Hal Moore on a Vietnam battlefield and Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumley is still as tough and unyielding today, at age 86. Here's a quote about him from the website: "There are veterans of the 7th Cavalry who believe that God may look like Sgt. Maj. Plumley, but is not nearly as tough as the Sgt. Maj. on sins, large and small". I'm afraid that this widely-watched showing of the movie, will bring all these people more attention from their admirers than they would want.
