Well, it certainly runs true to type that Kirk fires without provocation or reason.

You gotta love it. My Trekker/Trekkie best friend will probably say, "Wow, Picard's hailing once again."

Picard has a much newer, more advanced ship; plus Data. :-)

Kirk has Spock, who can come back from the dead.

deffinately piccard.

If you look over Kirk's history, he is a loony compared to the calculating Piccard.

Picard has issues... lots of them. He is afraid of women (You never saw Kirk throw a beautiful women off of himself!), he has issues with his brother, was turned into a borg, and destroyed 2 or 3 ships? Ok, so Riker was responsible for one of those... Not a great record compared to Kirk.

If you are a true Trek fan, read The Return by Bill Shatner. Kirk is back from the dead, and kicks NextGen butt! Great little story, takes place after Generations.

I meant, who wins in that video I linked to. This could turn into the great debate!

If you are talking about issues...

I have issues with the writers of the original star trek. They made everything so ultuistic and utopian, that it is very hard for me to digest... now thats my opinion only....

The only reason I favour piccard over kirk is that Piccard is more human... he has flaws and we see them more often and it often leads to more contrasting and hence in my opinon more interesting stories.

But, I think overall, Piccard thinks more universal whereas kirk would kick but in a one on one.... I mean, how many times can Kirk win while outnumbered, understaffed and sometimes while in a coma or dead?

But then again, thats my view... If you mean Piccard has issues, I call them falibilities..... Hence, more approachable to an audience. Kirk is something to look at, and I doubt anyone can really connect with the guy... (well, as far as I know.... this is matter of debate) But to my knowledge, Kirk is a difficult character to deal with when you try to associate a regular person to him. *shrugs*

I heard that before Gene R. died, he said Trek could no longer have battles, etc., because ultimate peace was found. Talk about boring stories! Hence, ENTERPRISE was a prequel.

I don't lknow how that "type" got out there. It ain't so.

If you look at all the times Kirk directly saved the Earth -- episodes, movies -- he did it each time without firing a single shot.

If you look at all the times Picard directly saved the Earth -- episodes, movies -- he did it each time by blowing someone up.

Just sayin'.

Kirk will win because even though Picard is more talented, Kirk will find a way to win via "cheating".

Kirk wins, on the strength of Alexander Courage. Nothing trumps the score from the original series!

It isn't cheating... it's "creative alternatives".

It isn't cheating... it's "refusing to lose".
