Ok, I'm not gonna guess again, because I had to research it a little. (and that would be cheating) But my current guess would seem to match up with all the clues (silly, 80's, Pakistan) you gave except one...the original quote. Is there any chance the quote was actually, "If you let us go, I'll bring back the sun." or am I even close? (but no cigar!)
