Lol..sorry, I do like pushing rules a little.

This film is a true work of genius, as is all his films.

I'll give a hint:

Even though this film is a work of genius - it was the first time the filmmaker used "something" in his films that had been used in other films for about 13 years. He was late to the game on purpose.

Every single movie uses this "something" now.

"the great dictator". It was the first talkie of charlie chaplin. the talkies started in the late twenties I think and chaplin had problems with this as with other silent era actors. I believe the character who says the "german words"( actually the sentence in german doesn't make sense) is Hynkel or something.


if you think chaplin is a genius check out "buster keaton" somewhat a forgotten one in the silent era comedy figures who I think is even greater than chaplin.

"der blitz ist an der flachmatuche" is another fake German line.. That one is from Top secret though and not that serious. A really funny movie though!!
