Based on the quote, it sounds obvious to me as a vampire movie, but I fear it may be one of the more recent such films, none of which I have seen, so I'm just going to take a stab in the dark on this one and guess one that is still just a little bit older. I'll guess "Blade: Trinity".

Well, since I'm feeling generous today, I'll give two hints:
1. The name of the character who's name I replaced with "XXXXXX" is "Marius" 2. The movie is based on a novel by the same name, the author of which is one of the most popular writers of modern gothic fiction, though of late (after her re-conversion to Christianity) she has been writing only Christian fiction.
