Favorite TV Series.
halo folx.
this is a competitor thread to the fav film thread ;). all we need a list of your fav TV series new or old, on or off, over the air and cable and satellite and internet and whatever, DVD or first-run. whatever it is as long as it is TV series! movie of the week (including "TV specials") doesn't count. mini-series do count. i'll go first: -Battlestar Galactica -Sopranos (only the first 2 seasons) -3rd Rock From the Sun -Six Feet Under -Entourage (so far) -All Star Treks -The Outer Limits (classic, not the new ones) -Twilight Zone (again, Rod Sterling variety now the new ones) -The X-Files -Lost -Desperate Housewives -Family Guy -Twin Peaks -Babylon5 -The Critic -Buffy -Firefly -Futurama

For me...in no particular order...
'24'---Seasons 2 and Season 4 are my favorite. Miami Vice-the first two seasons.---Ferraris, gunplay and visual style. Magnum PI---another show with a great locale and a Ferrari. 'Quantum Leap' "Robbery: Homicide Divsion" this short lived show was shot in HD and produced by Michael Mann[if you liked "Collateral" and "Heat"] Star Trek: The original series. Moonlighting King of The Hill Oh yeah...I also loved "Spenser for Hire" and the Equalizer... |

I too see most of my favorites on others' lists. Loved all of the Star Trek shows, but TNG was the best overall.
Old: Any Star Trek Rockford files Magnum PI Harry O Simon & Simon Banacek Greatest American Hero (Best reluctant hero guy!) Spensor for Hire, (Why I still want to visit Boston) Lost in Space Night Stalker, (which is being brought back, maybe this time with good visuals) X-Files Lois and Clark, (man if you don't watch this just for Terri Hatcher--something is wrong with you, or your female! If your female-Dean Cain!?!?!) The Pretender M.A.S.H. Becker, (but you have to watch it to get into it) Outer Limits Futurama New: Monk,(but may be running out of good writing, I hope not) House, (but may run out of good plots or ailments) The 4400, (has endless plots lines, but can they keep the writing good and improve the pace?) 24, (fast paced, hang on the edge of your seat, and no reruns!) Lost, (so far so good) The Simpsons, (except for Itchy and Scratchy--sorry) Future: I hope that good money is put into writing for the good shows! What I mean, is don't just look for new shows, make the current ones stay. Maybe some good shows coming this year. I love SciFi, and there are many for this season. Please be good!!!!!!!!!!

I was very upset when I learned they were re-making Night Stalker. I truly enjoyed the show, and had a story forming in my mind involving Carl Kolchak coming back in a new series.. Then, I hear they beat me to it. I'm just afraid they may ruin it.

Lotsa cool television shows mentioned.
My favs by category; this is not a complete list but these are the ones I remember right now. Current/Recent Shows: The Dead Zone (really like this show) The 4400 (really like this show) Law and Order (SVU and CI) CSI (The Original mostly, though Miami is good) Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Myth Busters Boston Legal Stargate SG-1 (hmmm, Atlantis is ok) PTI (Pardon the Interruption) Older Shows: Gunsmoke M*A*S*H Baretta Kojak (Original, don't like the remake) Rockford Files Six Million Dollar Man Twin Peaks (I fell in love with Audrey man) Moonlighting 21 Jump Street (cool show man, till Johnny Depp left) Simon and Simon Hardcastle and McCormak (the coolest car man, ever!) Tenspeed and Brownshoe (pretty good show) Knight Rider (KITT was cool man) Baywatch (uhm, is this a legal entry on my list? Can't believe no one mentioned it as yet, Lol!) Star Trek The Pretender X-Files Battlestar Galactica (old one; I look at the new remake, but mostly to see what they're doing with the material, I think it sucks though) Animated: Justice League Cartoons Batman Cartoons Teen Titans Thunderbirds (those puppets were cool man) Full Metal Alchemist (Anime) Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X (Anime) (I admit it, I'm a huge FAN) Yu-Gi-Oh (Anime) Family Guy Futurama Simpsons (the first 5 seasons are the best, lately it's weak) Smallville seems too predictable and has lost my interest, but the first 2 seasons it was on my must see TV list. I used to look at Monk, but when they booted the original assistant the show went downhill. |

OMG, I loved Dark Shadows as a kid. Wasn't it just too humorous when the boom dropped into the shot or an arc move picked up another camera or you could see the lights through the windows of the mansion. Live soap opera drama at it's best. I've got to get the series on DVD. Almost as fun as watching Plan 9 from Outer Space. Thanks for the memories, Steph |
