Weird "Tropic Thunder" moment
Hi gang. Have a question about a weird moment in tropic thunder. Regardless of what you thought of the movie (that's not what I'm here to talk about), there's a really strange moment kind of in the middle (from what I remember) that I wanted to ask about, see if anyone has insight on it.
So Robert DJ's character is talking (sorry, don't remember at all what about), and then after his line, he kinda smiles, but it's this weird smile that doesn't fit at all with the character. . .it honestly looks like a mistake that was left in the film for some reason (like when an actor screws up and breaks character and laughs or something). I couldn't figure it out. Anyone know what I mean and have insight? |

I think I know what you're talking about. There's this strange laugh, then the character slips back into a more somber look. I think this was actually in character, as it is later revealed that RDJr's character was insecure about his acting, and what that meant for her personal projection of himself. He laughs because he's uncomfortable, and then the seriousness slips back in.
Or maybe I'm reading into things too much :)
