Once Upon a Time in America
This movie is Sergio Leone's masterpiece. Every shot. Every word. The ending is the most bold ending I've ever seen and I don't think anybody but De niro could have managed it. I can't believe I had not seen it before. I'm sure most of you already have but for those who haven't I would think about netflixing it.

Good movie, no doubt, but I have to say Leone's masterpiece is still Once Upon A Time in the West, just the opening sequence alone is better than 20 other full movies I can think of

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is also a masterpiece from start to finish, I agree.
And as for openings . . . After reading an article on the recent release of Duck You Sucker in ASC I netflixed it and although I thought overall the movie was not up to par with Leone's other work the opening was, at least in my opinion, the best and most ominious opening to a western. Ever. The rental was worth the first five minutes. I would not hesitate to turn the movie off after fifteen minutes though. |

Agreed. One of the best openings ever!
