Death Proof - full length non-US version
Hi all,
Went to a preview the other week of the UK stand-alone release of Death Proof and loved it. I thought it made for a fascinating lesson in movie editing, because I had seen the film in its 90m Grindhouse incarnation and found it likeable enough but padded out with endless interminable dialogue scenes that seemed to last forever. I dreaded to think how a 114m cut would play, but to my surprise the extra length made everything flow much better: to my mind, the far longer version feels much shorter! The screening was bookended by an introduction and Q&A with QT and Zoe Bell, who were linked up by satellite with us and another dozen cinemas around the country; this worked far more smoothly than I was expecting and it's a shame that more movies aren't promoted this way! I went to the industry showing at the Edinburgh film festival and that showing also had the missing reels put back in and i agree it makes the film a whole lot better. I went again to the public viewing cause i loved it so much, zoe bell made an appearance with a Q and A before and after, she seems pretty nice.
Andy.

I'm glad you guys got a good look at Guero's Taco Bar in that movie... it's an Austin tradition.
