Avid Xpress Pro/ DV, Realtek Sound Card Error - Solution
Using an Acer Centrino Duo laptop with Realtek HD sound card installed. When opening Avid Xpress Pro (or Free DV) I get this error:
Exception : ADM_DSOUND_MIXER_OPEN_ERROR Then the program shuts down. I have been on the Avid site and the consensus seems to be that it is my Realteak HD sound card that is the problem. Solution disable and use default card, however I have no other default sound card. Other suggestion I have come across is to install a Creative Soundblaster card. My question: Creative has the following card specifically for notebooks "Creative Audigy 2ZS Notebook" - slides into the PCMIA slot. Anybody know if this will solve my problem before I purchase it. I find myself in Italy where sales practices are a little more restrictive to consumer error in purchasing the wrong product. THANKS! |
