Avid and iMovie conflict
I currently work on a Mac that has iMovie and Avid Xpress Pro installed.
Before I installed Avid, I was able to capture HDV footage from my Z1 by using iMovie. Since I have installed Avid, iMovie will not function properly anymore. iMovie recognizes that my camera is plugged in, reads timecode, is able to drive my camera, but only a blue screen appears in my iMovie window. I have since unistalled Avid and iMovie still doesnt work. At the end of the Avid uninstallation there was a message saying something about it could not uninstall all the files because they are now used by other programs. I am wondering if these files were not something that the Avid installer overwrote with their own "optimized" drivers. Any help would be much appreciated. ....and yes, I have unistalled and reinstalled iMovie, plugged and unplugged wires, restarted and turned off everything in every possible order. |

Sounds like you will need to do a clean install of your whole OS. Do you have a 'system recovery' disc or boot disc?

Richard, is there not another work around? Is this common? Do you think its from the AVID installation?

John,
"Common" ??? I don't know. I cut on Avid on a PC. So I don't know about Mac issues. Your best bet is to go to the Avid forum www.avid.com make sure you post on the MAC forum, and ask the folks there. |
