Convert HD footages to SD
Hi folks
I completed editing and burning a HD video to bluray using MC5, Sorenson squeeze and Avid DVD. My client want to have another version in DVD. I use Avid DVD to burn the HD file (m2v) to DVD (720x480). The result looks terrible. Would anybody tell me how to convert my HD file and burn it to DVD version. Best. |

Re: Convert HD footages to SD
I make a mixdown (video and audio), export QT REF. I use Sony Vegas for export HD file to VirtualDub for DownConvert to SD (Vegas has a frame server for export the uncompressed HD to VirtualDub, there I am using Lanzos filter for resize to SD, the second frame server export file from VD with avisynth script right to encoder to render mpeg2/VOB). My english don't let me tell you more, a result is very nice (lanzos filter in VirtualDub is free and very good), time is about +10min.
The another way is make HW DC with the avid nitris. |

What is stopping you from changing the output size when exporting directly from the HD project from avid?

Re: Convert HD footages to SD
I use Media Composer 5 to export the file to m2v. then I use sorenson to squeeze them to MPEG -2 DVD (NTSC,PS) format . I finally put it to DVD using Avid DVD. The image is kind of stuttering which means the motion appears not smooth. The video length is quite long 1 hour 12 minutes
Thanks |

Re: Convert HD footages to SD
I get pretty good results by making an SD video mixdown in Avid and exporting a Quicktime reference which I compress to MPEG2.
Canopus Procoder also does a pretty good downconversion |
