Avid on a Mac + Sony EX1
Hi there,
I've been waiting a long time for Sony (EX1) and Avid (Media Composer) and Apple (Intel Mac) to work together... Some hopeful signs: - Media Composer is now set to work with Leopard. - Sony's new Clip Browser 2, announced today, "allows direct import into AVID systems at full 35mbps in MXF format, something currently not available natively with AVID systems" But I just heard from an Avid editor that he thinks this new Clip Browser does this for PC-Avids only. Can anyone corroborate? Am I destined to keep waiting (or, God forbid, switch to a PC)? Malcolm |

Good news... it seems that Sony's Clip Browser, version 2 (to be released in June) will work on the Mac platform... will export to MXF, will allow "direct import into AVID systems at full 35mbps in MXF"... and will do many other wonderful things as well.
More than I could have asked for. Cheers, Malcolm |

I'm still a bit confused. Are you guys saying that AVID will edit the EX-1 files natively? That's great! I was under the impression that Avid transcoded those files into the DNXHD format.
