For Jiri - Render before export to HDV device
Hey Jiri,
A while back you posted some instructions on how to properly export to a HDV device, which were very helpful. You mentioned to render the timeline before doing the export. Recently, I was short on hard drive space. Didn't have enough to render the whole timeline into DNxD, then produce my m2t. So I did a test and output a short section to see what it would do. To my surprise, the AVID rendered each frame as it produced the m2t file, without rendering it on the timeline. This was exactly what I needed, as it saved both the immense time and hard drive space it would have taken to render the timeline. Try it out yourself. Cheers, Vito |

Vito,
you are right, I realize that Avid renders whatever it needs before going to HDV. It's just a habit to render everything just before export. I am glad it worked well for you though...:-) Jiri

But the important part is that it seems to render on the fly the frames being written to the m2t, and doesn't touch the timeline. Quite the time and space saver...
Anyway, all the best until the next discussion! |

Aaah, I see. Good to know. I didn't quite realize that, thanks for the feedback.
Later...
