H.264 video editing - hardware requirements

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about getting the new AVCHD SD3 camera, but not quite sure what sort of computer hardware I may need then for native video editing in this format (without transferring into HDV).

Searched the web, and found complaints that it is a very demanding codec indeed. Some people claim that even E6400 based system is not good enough to handle the job.

What is your experience? Please.
