AVCHD dvd question

Im loooking into the AVCHD camcorders and I was wondering if you can take the DVD out of the camera and put it into your computer then drag and drop the video files onto your computer's hard drive or do you still need to use firewire ?

If you can drag and drop is it alot faster than the realtime of firewire transfer ?

The camcorders has a USB 2.0 port so fire wire is completely unnecessary. Some of the advantages of AVCHD disc based camcorder are that its discs are fully playable on Blu-Ray player such as the PS3 or standard DVD drives from a computer and yes, you are able to drag the files from your computer’s DVD drive to your hard drive.
