AVCHD Authoring Tools

Hello there,

I'm after more information on the AVCHD authoring tools that might be out there. I used to be of the belief that these discs were simply BDMV structures burned onto DVD-R. However, some BD players appear to run AVCHD discs just fine but not BDMV discs created by an authoring tool and burned to DVD-R.

Clearly therefore there are some differences between a BDMV disc and its AVCHD relative.

That being the case, can any one tell me more about the basic authoring packages included with their cameras? By that I mean the software that adds the menus etc?
