AVCHD to standard DVD

Hello and thanks for all the great help on this form.

What will be the best way to put AVCHD edited video on a standard DVD?

At the moment I'm importing my footage from the Sony TG-1 (AVCHD) to final cut pro 6.0.5 (Proress or AIC), editing it with FCP and exporting to Quick Time and burning the standard DVD (with Toast 10 or DVDSP or iDVD).
That workflow gives me a clear but pixelated result,

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers
