Samurai Blade and older DSLR

This is something I'm considering as a monitor and recording option for my BMPCC but I contacted Atomos about using this with my 1D MarkIV. They said the image quality would be much improved. I'm new to external recording but would there be a significant difference? Image to CF goes through camera compression without Samurai? Skips compression with Samurai and samurai compresses it with an better container? How much better?
