Remaining recording time indicator

How about it Atomos? I recently ran out of media during a recording without any warning. Along with a live audio recording meter these two features would make the Samurai much more efficient.

Hi Bruce,

Not sure what you mean, remaining rec time IS clearly indicated in lower right corner of screen of Samurai and Ninja recorders. Is your firmware up to date?

Thanks

Re: Remaining recording time indicator

But it would be good to have it on the Monitor screen, not just the menu screen as many people just monitor the picture once recording starts.

Ideally I'd like the 1st menu screen to lead you to the other functions and it not be possible to alter anything on it. So you should have to go to another screen to alter something like the tc button because it is all to easy to turn that off accidentally. The fact that the codec can't be accidentally changed in the latest firmware upgrade for example is a big boon.

Next on the monitor screen it would be great if you could decide what options you would like to see displayed on it. So that if you can live without timecode or whatever, you can get rid of but leave on the ones you are really interested in.

Finally I think that Bruce's call for an audio meter is a long overdue feature in these recorders.

Exactly. I don't like leaving the picture monitor screen while in REC mode so having a time countdown on that screen would be a real asset.

Another suggestion, why not have the red/orange record bars start to flash when the record countdown gets to under 2 minutes of media left. I can't recall a camcorder in the digital age that doesn't do this internally, so why not add it to the Samurai/Ninja? This post was motivated by the occurance of the Samurai running out of media time without warning. Luckily I was also internal recording to SxS cards so the end of that shot was not lost, but will force post to use an 8-bit 4:2:0 clip instead of the 10-bit 4:2:2 Samurai clip.
