1080 50p/60p raw
one of the big problems a reviewer had with the new Sony a99 is the 50p is too compressed in camera but that the Ninja 2 can't handle 1080 50p raw. Does anyone know of a somewhat reasonably priced recorder that can handle this frame rate/resolution?
thanks |

Is it possible to record directly in to a computer if it's fast enough?

To do 60p uncompressed you will need something like this - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/761157-REG/Convergent_Design_CD_GEMINI_01_Gemini_4_4_4_Uncompressed_Video.html
This may not meet your definition of reasonably priced but recording 60p uncompressed regardless of how you do it isn't cheap.

Re: 1080 50p/60p raw
I don’t have that camera but according to the Sony website the a99 HDMI outputs “uncompressed Full 1080 HDMI® output in 60p/60i” not RAW. The Ninja 2 should easily record this (60i). Whether or not the HDMI output is “clean”- that is without viewfinder information overlay- is another matter. I haven’t seen anything about that and I suggest you inquire on Atomos’ own forum (see their website). It will probably work.
Don't know if you require 60p for some reason. |

These best the Ninja 2 can do is 30p or 60i. You'll need to pay out real money for more than that.
