Canon 24 Fps Camera!
I read a bulletin where someone said they read in a magazine Canon was developing a 24/30 fps camera that will include an interchangeable lens like the XL1 (to compete with Panasonic's 24 fps AG-DVX1000). Does anyone know if this is true or has any one heard of this? If it is true, do you know when it is supposed to be released, and where I can learn more about it?
Thanks, Papa Jenks |

IMHO the last pro SD cameras were introduced at this year's NAB. All future ones, including the Canon replacement, will be HD.

That means I have to buy a HD-ready TV? Naaa. I'll stick with CBC Radio. (690 am here in Van.) My 1965 Radio Shack radio works just fine. Cost me 50 bucks (Canadian). :)

Frank, you should graduate to FM by now, the next step would be 8-track stereo, even in Canada. Just kidding.

Yeah, I kept my late dad's Christmas disco party 8 tracks. Too bad I don't have a 8 track player in my car! Never mind, I keep it tuned to CBC.

The XL2 is at least 1 year away, said Canon when asked by a site (5th of may 2003), I think it was 2pop but I don't remember, sorry. I've also heard some say that the CCD's will have 690.000 pixels. But other than that I haven't heard more.

No one knows. It just would not make sense for Canon to introduce SD replacement by next NAB.

I think that Frank is still using old Sony B/W reel to reel video recorder and for his music a wire recorder from WW2 surplus.

Canon 24p camera -- Some say yes!
I've gotten a few leads from people claiming that indeed, Canon will be offering a 24p camera later this year:

Here's an article that I read quite some time ago. In fact, its dated April 7, 2003. Basically it lists all the theories that are still floating around, 24p and "at least a year away." It even quotes an apparently credible source... Tim Smith, Technical Marketing & Sales Training Manager for the Video Division of Canon. I don't think that says too much for the rumors.
