The NEXT step?
Ok so HD is here and cheap(er) (RED) 4k is on the way.
So whats next? 8k, 12k? .. And how long do people think it will take for Sony, Canon etc.. to update their (prosumer) HD line to be 4k? I guess what I am asking for in this thread is people's opinions on the technological roadmap/timeline for digital video for the next few years. |

Skip video and move to film?
I am starting to wonder, and desire a project done with 35mm allready. |

Jack, perhaps hold off like myself. The HD technology and market is far from mature.

Frank is right, the technology is far from mature.
However, I can't necessarily say it would be best to hold off. Instead, I'd suggest considering a more economic route of producing a project without having to empty your pockets on a new piece of equipment. That could mean renting, or buying used, whatever way to get the best quality you can on projects you're hell bent on doing now without having to bet the farm on something that you already know is incapable of meeting your needs in the future. |
