If an HD lens runs about 12K Bucks people will realize itīs not an option for them, so if Canon puts an XM3 with HDV before or little after their big one, they will kill some of their sales and maybe hit their XL2 as well...

If you mean different markets the ones that donīt need the HDMI output (the most people, who will use HDV) and some broadcasters and indie filmakers that will use it, then itīs possible that will happen the same thing anyway.

If you are stuck with HDV, you will be stuck with the stock lens and you wonīt need HDMI. So you will buy the GL (that is basically what i just wrote). Maybe itīs better for Canon to offer just the XL-H1 right now and get the customers that will say: Oh, well...
