Re: Pxw-x7
Based upon the model number alone, I would assume it's a much more stripped down version of the X70.
But will definitely be interesting to learn what it's capable of. |

Re: Pxw-x7
HD and 4K ? xavc-i ? xavc-l? 10bit? 4:2:2?
in any case will work with vegas and FCP ? or only with a future update (that will not work anyway, by then)? is that the new marketing guideline of consumer video cameras @sony's? it actually makes sense (to them): who needs vegas and FCP? if you do then buy a real camera (4x the price), no? or transcode piece by piece spending days in front of the monitor, waiting ... and to end up with the same footage of the regular AVCHD 8bit 28mbps 4:2:0 (after all that's exactly what happens now with the X70) |

Re: Pxw-x7
Ditto on edius.
I've been editing on it since it's inception. very stable, easy, fast and more importantly there is zero rendering,as u have with fcp. Plus xavc files play flawlessly with no issues at all. |

Re: Pxw-x7
Isn't that what the AX100 is, a stripped-down version of the X70? Even the X70 is underfeatured: UHD (not even full DCI 4K) is a paid upgrade, and it's only 8-bit 4:2:0. What could the X7 possibly be missing and the camera still be worth buying?

Re: Pxw-x7
I think we'll know tomorrow (Sun.) as that is the day for the Sony NAB press conference. Tim Dashwood, myself and several other DVi folks will be attending it.

Re: Pxw-x7
Was this a late 1st of April joke?! The rumors about Sony at the moment concern A6xxx and A7x only.
If I would be allowed to wish, I HIGHLY would like the PXW-X7 to be an exact copy of the PXW-FS7 (same form factor, button layout, codecs, media, e-mount, price...) but: * without Cine EI mode * with 1/2'' or even 2/3'' 3CMOS sensor instead * with more stable & foldable monitor/VF to make it a wonderful ENG camera... |

Re: Pxw-x7
A UHD version of the EA50 would make a lot of sense for the lineup. A lower cost FS7 with similar recording features as the FDR-AX1. AVCHD 2.0 ( which the EA50 already has ) 50/60P UHD at 150Mbps on SDXC cards or even an upgrade to XQD. Would place it above the X70 in features and price even with the X70 upgrade and below the FS7.

Re: Pxw-x7
I'd much rather have a 1'' type sensor with a fixed lens in the form factor of a PXW-X200 to rival the DVX200.
I've talked with Sony and they do not want to use a Micro 4/3rds sized sensor since Panasonic mostly owns that sensor size. I'd be fine if all you can capture is S-Log3 without RAW. The logical next step for the 1'' type sensor is a specific 16:9 or 17:9 sensor for that size with a fast scan rate supporting 4k60p with very minimal skew, basically, a 1'' type sensor for the PXW-Z100. |
