PD 170 -- Production Discontinued?
Hi folks,
Wonder if any of you would know if the PD170 has been discontinued? I called a dealer (here in Malaysia) asking if they've stock and was told that the 170 is no longer in production. Could this be true?

The availablity of the rebate doesn't negate the fact that production may have been stopped on the 170.
Understand that the Japanese don't have a dedicated production line. They configure a production line to build a batch of cameras of one type and then reconfigure the line to build another type of camera. This batch build operation is done many times over the life of a popular camera. So in truth, the 170 has gone out of production many times already. :-)) It is quite possible that Sony has built a large batch of cameras and that will be the last. Who knows? Sony doesn't share that type of information until they decide to do so.
