$200 off iPhone with 2 year contract.
People should be already postponing their iPhone purchase because of the 3G version that’s coming out. This article gives people another reason to wait if it’s true.

It doesn't look like they will be announcing the 3G phones until the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference June 9 - 13.
The 3G iPhones probably won't be out until July - September. |

I can (and likely will) wait. Does anyone know what the average expected increase in browsing speed will be with the 3G network?

It depends on the network where you are... but I've seen demos up to 2x as fast.

Recently in Las Vegas (also a 3G area) and didn't do as well. The speed was good when it was available but with so many people in town for NAB it really dragged the network performance down. It was still faster than the 1x speeds though. My friend was surprised with the speed difference between my phone and his iPhone.

Its official, the 3G iPhone will be out next month.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ It’s good that you can now get the phone for $200 but AT&T increased the data plan by $10 a month which totals to $240 during the 2 year contract. You end up paying $40 extra when you include the service. You still get a much better iPhone. |

Looks like a bit of a gamble for AT&T... http://www.reuters.com/article/marke...0080610?rpc=44

I'll never buy one. It's WAY too proprietary, you can't install 3rd party applications, and you're stuck with one provider (AT&T).
