Zoom lens
Sebastian has graciously offered to provide me with a rented elphel 353 camera at his expense. I am ordering parts that will allow me to begin development such as an 8.9" display and beagleboard (rev c4).
Here is my question: The elphel 353 camera comes with a Computar brand H2Z0414C-MP lens. This lens doesn't have filter threads so I can't mount anything to it. I own a jag35pro 35mm adapter ( JAG35pro ). It has 43mm threads on the camera end. I need to find a lens for the 353 camera with 43mm threads or one that I could use in conjunction with step up adapters. So, what is the best way to connect this 35mm adapter to the elphel cameras? Could anyone find me a lens, step up adapters, or some other type of device I could use? Thanks! |

I think the best option is to mount everything on a rod support. It doesn't have to be our own Apertus support to start with, if it comes to attaching only a 35mm adapter. The problem you have to resolve is to make some kind of (DIY?) spacer that will keep the light away between the Elphel lens and the 35mm image (GG)
You can also think of something like the 'universal donut' that Zacuto made as flexible spacer between a lens and the mattebox: Universal Donut - Zacuto |

Good suggestion! I have a rod support I could use for now. The only problem is, my 35mm adapter has an achromat in it that allows the lens to focus on the ground glass with less chromatic aberrations etc. If I took off the step-up adapter and placed the camera next to the achromat I'm unsure what would happen :/
I guess we will have to wait and see?! I'm very excited. Right now the Elphel camera's power supply is backordered so they are waiting on that before they ship it to me. In addition, I ordered a Touchbook, Always Innovating: Introducing the Touch Book , which is also backordered. I am very interested in hearing if anyone else has any suggestions for mounting my 35mm adapter onto the c-mount camera. I am unfamiliar with c-mount lenses. Maybe someone could offer insight as to what c-mount lens (with threads) would work best for this application? |

I also ordered a Touchbook, its basically a beagleboard, battery pack and LCD combined into a single case for 300$. It does not natively offer Ethernet but the USB-Ethernet adapter is said to be working well. This is what I want to test.
