retrofitting camcorder optics

I remember a couple years back reading about someone who had removed the optics from his camcorder and set it up with an interchangeable lens mount.

Maybe I'm not thinking of the right search terms, or maybe I imagined the whole thing. But I can't find any reference to it in the forums?

Anybody else remember this?

I remember someone in Italy doing it to an FX1 or Z1... Can't recall who...

found him

Thanks Chris, that gave me the search terms I needed:

See info below (from a differnet dvinfo post).

Here's why I was wondering:
I picked up a sanyo xacti hd2. there are some things I really love about it (and some things I really hate).

For instance, it has a terribly limited focal length (starting at 6.5 or something), and limited aperature as well.

But it has a fairly big c-mos sensor 1/2.5"

I'm wondering if it would be a good candidate for a cmount super 16mm lens retrofit. Some of those c-mount lenses have incredibly wide aperatures, which (with the larger sensor) might yield a somewhat narrow depth of field without the use of an adpater.

***here's the post from the guy who modded his fx1

Italian guys on a FX1 and Fuji lens, I'll edit the link once I find it.
