Nikon lenses & Letus35, I need advice at DVinfo.net

What kind of Nikon lens should I pickup? I already have one but it's beat up and being given away.

Try the older Nikon Nikkor's, they are great for 35mm adapters.

Look for fully-manual lenses that have a low number as their fastest (wide-open) f-stop. For a 50mm Nikon lens, f1.8 is typical, f1.4 lets in more light and can be found for a bit more money, and f1.2 is the most expensive and hard to find. For wide-angle lenses, f2 is probably the fastest (lets in most light) lens you can find. Telephoto lenses with low f-numbers can be very expensive. I wouldn't worry about getting super-low f-number lenses, but try to get a f1.4 50mm and at least an f2.8 28mm for wide shots. These will give you a lot of light and not cost a fortune. I got an f2 28mm and it was still reasonable. The most likely source is ebay or a local camera shop that might carry used equipment. I bought lenses on ebay and they all came in as described. Oh, I bought all Nikon branded lenses except for a cheap Vivitar zoom lens to see if it will work. It is an f3.5 lens so it is only good in bright light. Regardless, it is not a bad lens in sunlight. Anything over f2.8 will probably only work outdoors or in studio light conditions.
