Need some forum organization advice
Hi folks,
If we try to organize things around here somewhat, and build a few sub-categories for this board, what should they be? I know it's a challenge for new people to navigate through these discussions, and any advice regarding how to streamline things would be greatly appreciated. For one thing, I'm thinking that each of the giant threads should probably live in their own sub-forum. But I'm open to any and all good ideas here. |

I have two large .pdf files, one an illustrated general "how-to" for the plumber's versions, an illustrated "Agus 35 operator's hints" and a music video "My Time Again" which I have consent to have posted. The music video is currently posted here in a shortened and highly compressed form.
Given that all the AGUS/ALDU projects emulate the operating principles of at least two optical appliances known to be intended for audio-visual origination and possibly a third group, two SD cams by JVC, it might be prudent to call in advice regarding legal exposure due to propogation on an open forum of designs which might infringe intellectual rights. (RE: the JVC cams, they are the KY-F32 and KY-F50, which use a relay path (not known if it is rear projection via fixed groundglass or purely optical but on one specimen of the KY-F50, it looks suspiciously like rear projection when under the same lighting conditions which provoke image defects on the AGUS/ALDU and MINI35/PRO35. These cams emulate onto 1/3" 3 x CCD arrays, 1/2" and 2/3" imaging and use 1/2" "B" style mount and "C-Mount"). I imagine the resources pages would possibly be split into three sub-groups :- designs/construction manuals, basic technical handling notes and operational info for individual versions, artistically creative methods of using the appliances for individuals with an advanced level of operator knowledge. (There are things you can do with an Agus which you cannot with any other device or accessory.) |

Structure seems quite good...
Hi Chris ... I think the navigational levels and the sub-categories are very well organized. The 2 click rule certainly applies here and I don't think you need to modify that at present. Once the new members of the board get used to the categorical monikers in place of exact language, I think the structure works well.
Hope to see you at the next dv tradeshow in Toronto ... now if you could just fix that problem.... Jimmy. |

Mainly we seem to have the following categories:
- mini35 homebuilt with rotating groundglass - mini35 homebuilt with static groundglass - complete homebuilt camera - extensions to get uncompressed out of current camera's like the DVX100 (not much talk these days) A new talk just started on combining a mini35 with two DV camera's to get HD like resolutions.

Iīm with Rob Lohman. But maybe not so specialise (i need bigger dictionary...).
- 35mm adapters - Homebuilt cameras - Uncompressing the power of your cameraīs CCDs - Accesories and modifications (such as metteboxes and rods or follow focus... maybe like a DIY section). Maybe its a little big, but at least the first two sections look obvious to me. (not mean strong obvious, i just donīt find nicer synonim. Hell i really need this dictionary!)
