The mini35 is a lens adaptor that allows you to mount 35mm
(cine) lenses to certain DV or DVCPRO cameras to give you take
advantage of these lenses and their characterstics like a
shorter Depth of Field. The device we are talking here is made
by P+S Technik in Germany and you can find their info site at
www.mini35.com

Click here to see the device
(it is fitted to a various camera's in those pictures)

Keep in mind that it costs around $10,000 without any lenses.
(see the price list on the last link for more details)

Well still no update from anyone about the replacement kit for the XL2 and mini35... I pickup my XL2 this week and will test it with my mini35 as soon as I get a chance - if it will work without this update kit that is. I will post my resulting footage as soon as I can.

Charles,

But what kit is needed for the mini35 300 to work properly with the XL2? I've had the XL1 up until now and simply thought a direct swap would be possible?

Charles - when are you getting your XL2? :)

Dennis:

It's a replacement part for the 1/4-20 tiedown, just slightly taller than the XL1 version. Not a big deal. Eric MacIver got his setup a week or two ago.

Thanks.

Dennis,

The XL2 is about 4mm taller from the bottom tie-down plate to the lens center so the support platform of the Mini35 had to be re-designed to accommodate for this new height. ZGC has the new part available; it requires the swap a few parts from your existing ZL1 platform such as the spring-loaded assembly and the tie down knob. The new platform comes with a spacer to be used with the XL1, that makes the switch over quick and easy.
