Fixing basses in footage

I've just captured my footage of a concert.
It's of an Irish band (Comas) and the sound in general is rather good until the bhodran starts to play. Then everytime you hear the bhodran it's seems to be louder than the speakers can handle (it sounds scrambled). But when I look at the audio bars in FCP they just stay in yellow.
Is there a way that I can only reduce the sound of the bhodran in Soundtrack Pro?
I'm using Final Cut Studio 2.
Thanks

Check to see if the waveform is clipped ... zoom down in Soundtrack Pro and look for flat plateaus in the wave, even very short ones. If that is the cause, there's not much you can do.

FCP may not be showing the clipping (little red dot lights up above the level bar) because the gain on the audio track may be reduced.

What you need is a mastering program. Soundtrack pro is ok but to help with your problem will need a program that better to modify your sound. IE Protools or Logic.
Here is a sample.
