XLR phantom power settings
I am a newbie on this forum but have read through many threads - it's a university!
I am contemplating purchasing an AT835ST as a 'good all-rounder' and as an improvement on the on-board XH-A1 mic. This mic has XLR connections and can take phantom power from the camera. Does this mean I ned to set each XLR channel to provide the power or just one of them? If so which one? Don't want to blow the thing up when I get it! Great forum!! |

Chris,
With the AT835ST you need to supply phantom to both channels. I have one and it is a nice mic. I don't like it as much as my sennheiser 416, but it is as you said a very good allrounder - and I love the stereo it provides. If I am shooting dialog - the Senn is all over the AT, but when I travel the AT comes with me most of the time as it is so useful in being a shotgun and a stereo ambient. All the best,

XLR phantom power.
Cheers Graeme! I guessed as much but didn't want to risk stuffing up one good mic if I got this wrong!
Good luck with the cricket mate (you're going to need it!) |
