Connecting Samson AM1 to XLR input
Does anyone know or has anyone used a standard female 3.5mm mini female to male xlr cable such as the Comprehensive 3-footer on B&H site http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation, to connect Sanson AM1 receiver to xlr inputs on camera such as Canon XH-A1. (The Samson AM1 comes with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm male adaptor)
Or do I need to buy Samson's special adapter from their website. Thanks, Marty |

3.5mm to XLR adapter
Marty,
I'm currently using the Airline Micro series from Samson. I think that's the AM1 receiver? Usually the 2.5 to 3.5 mm cable is all I need. Sometimes however, my needs change and I'll use a 3.5 to XLR, or 2.5 to XLR. I made both of mine from parts I purchased at my local Radio Shack. I did nothing special to the circuitry, (diodes. capacitors, etc.) I just followed the diagram that (if I remember right) was in the owners manual. Since it was so simple for me, I can only assume that the Comprehensive cable you found at B&H should work just fine. BTW, I have found that (as expected) the output levels are higher at the 3.5mm headphone jack. (I sometimes use this jack when the occasion calls for it.) Mark |

Thanks, if the cable from B&H doesn't work I'll send it back and do as you did and make my own.
