Screwing a Beachtek XLR adapter to the bottom of a camcorder

This is ridiculously basic, I'm afraid, but I've got a Canon MVX250i camcorder and I want to connect a Beachtek DXA-2S to the bottom of it, and then fix both to a tripod. Problem is, the tripod connector thingy on the Canon is just a plastic screw thread, and the Beachtek box has two kind of protruding things, only one of which screws into the plastic thread on the camcorder. Result: an unsatisfactory fix! Are there metal adapters or plates that will help me out here? I'm not very practical I'm afraid so please be understanding if anyone can help here....

Hi Neil,
When you screw a beachtek type device on the bottom of a camera, normally there is a 1/4" threaded fixing, and a locating pin that prevents the beachtek from rotating. It sounds like the underside of your camera doesn't have the hole for the locating pin, so you probably need to remove it from the adaptor.
Most accessories (tripod plates, etc) let you remove the pin, but you might need to take the cover off the beachtek and unscrew it from the back (that's how you do it on my adaptor, though it's not a beachtek) - check your warranty first though.

Hope that helps,
Kyle
