Canon A1 and Audio Frame Rate
Am shooting tomorrow with the A1 with separate audio (Sound Devices 702T) for the first time and need to verify something-
the frame rate on the A1 is a true 23.97, right? So, I should have the audio recorder set the same frame rate, right? Much appreciated if anyone can verify or tell me what is the right way to go .

I think this largely relies on your editor. If you pull the audio into a 23.98 project, then you will be fine. Technically, the A1 records 24F into a 29.97 timecode. Final Cut can detect this, so when you pull the footage into your 23.98 timeline, it pulls out the 24F perfectly.
So if it was me, yes, I'd set the "audio framerate" for 23.98 since thats the timeline I would be editing in. |
