All Terrain Mic Stand?
Up here in the mountains it's hard to find level ground. Anyone know of a mic stand with adjustability for unlevel places? It also needs to stand up in the wind, preferably without sand bags.
thanks, Scott |

Consider using a "lighting and grip" "C-Stand". Some are available with "Mountain Legs" for just that purpose.
With a proper adapter, one can then attach the pole from a mic stand. I did this when I needed a mic about 18' in the air for a concert.

An old "atlas-style" boom tube chucks into the grip head of a c-stand just fine. If you're unfamiliar with atlas stands/booms, they are us-made and pre-date all the expensive imports and cheap knockoffs. They're still manufactured, typically with a couple sizes of weighted round bases. Your local pro-audio dealer should be able to get them, or they should be very inexpensive if you can find one used. |
