Splitting Source

Situation: I'm running an MKH-416, I want to record my audio directly to a Roland Hard Disk recorder and sync it in post. I haven't done this yet so
I thought I'd get a split box and send it to the recorder and the camera just to be safe. Is there a problem with this? Also, I'll be shooting 24p HDV from
a JVC HD100, will syncing be any kind of issue? The Roland unit does do
SMPTE but I have no experience working with it that way. I was then going to import it into Vegas via an optical connection. I can't screw this
up so of course I was seeking input - what better a place for that than here...

Edit: I would be capturing using CineForm which I'm guessing raises an issue with the audio because it won't be in the CineFrom codec, is there a way to do this? I can't imagine I'm stuck to recording to tape only??
