Good podium mic for graduation ceremony?

I will be taping a graduation ceremony, and I have a good lavalier which I considered putting at the podium, probably taped to the house mic. Would it be better to use a cardioid, or other type of mic for this application. Specific mic recommmendation most apprectiated.

Thanks!

I have successfully used the Sony ECM-44 for this. I believe it is an omni. You may wish to use a small bit of foam between the house mic and yours to help eliminate noise from the boom. Also a wind muff will help reduce popping ps.
