need wireless mic solution
Going on an extended trip, need to bring a wireless lav setup as well as a wired lav. Normally I just rent what I need, but this time it makes sense to buy.
I'm thinking of getting a Sennheiser EW100, as they seem to be good for the price. Probably the older one, as it performs just as well, and is cheaper (right?) I also want to use a 2nd wireless mic, would I need to buy two EW100's, or can I get two transmitters, or do I have to look for a completely different system? If so which? I also want to get one wired lav mic, can anyone suggest one to be had cheaply? Thanks!

B&H beats the prices on many new items at eBay (somtimes by quite a bit). I sure wouldn't buy a new camera on eBay.

There's a little trick I have for snagging some real bargains on eBay on occasion. Scope out listings that end at like 3-4am or in the middle of a SuperBowl broadcast. I snagged my GY-DV300U at like 3 in the morning, for enough under a grand to take my girlfriend out for a real nice dinner with the change (only 20 hrs on the drum even!). Heck of a deal. It's a jungle...

they're the equivalent of FAO Schwarze for grownup geeks. Everything and anything can be found there if it lights, sounds, records, captures, stores, or is part of photo, production, editing, etc.

Stan,
Besides buying most of my gear from B&H, I use their website like a DV/Audio encyclopedia. When DSE and Ty Ford and the lot throw around these equipment acronyms that I've never heard of, I just copy the word, paste it in the B&H Search window and figure out what in the heck they were talking about. Be careful though, their website can turn into the money pit. They have stuff you didn't know you needed until you go through what they have.

They used to be rather economical. Lately I have been getting better prices locally; like on my Canon XL2 and Sachtler tripod. Regards, Ty Ford |
