Headphones with GL-2

How come you can't hear any audio with Headphones when in the record mode with the Canon Gl-2 ?

I have no problem in the playback mode in audio reception with headphones plugged into the Gl-2. But no such luck in the record mode

It sure would be nice to hear audio feedback from the external microphone and be forewarned in case the audio cuts out

Anyone have any ideas on this question and problem?

Regards,

John.

Neither do I, I don't have a problem in playback. Plenty of "luck" with Record.

It is "nice" AND the only way.

Well, you've confirmed that playback to headphones works SO this means you have the PHONES adjustment working. Are you absolutley sure that you have the headphones jack in the correct outlet?

Just to confoim, John, I can hear through my headphones when I capture. Not having this would be, well, unthinkable. Just make sure you have the PHONES turned up and you have the PHONES plugged in correctly. If all else fails check this with a Canon Agent. You might need a trip to the Canon Garage . . yeah? Now THAT is bad luck.

Grazie

Can we assume that you are not using the yellow A/v jack at the back of the camera for you headphones?

Can hear with the Radio Shack Heaphone, not the Beydynamic

Thanks for the input Fred and Graham

When I used my cheapo Radio Shack headphones, can hear loud and clear. That works fine in the record mode

Initially I was using the Beyerdynamics DT 290 headset combo (has mic and headphone together) and couldn't hear during record. Thats when I decided to post here at the forum thinking that I couldn't hear any sound during record http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=241587&is=REG

Since the Headst mic on the DT 290 has an XLR connection I plug it into the Beachtek adapter http://www.beachtek.com/dxa4p.html and the headphone connector into the proper connection on the side of the Gl-2

I turned the volume way up at this time in the manual Audio mode on the side of the Gl-2, then I can hear on the DT 290 headset very well but it pegs out the mic visual bars on the Gl-2 screen. I can't have that with the decibels

I guess if I want to hear during record I'll just have to forget about using the Beyer Dynamics DT 290 headset. I thought it would be neat to talk into the mic and record at the same time in addition to listening with the headset but this set up doesn't work like this I've come to find out.

Thanks for your input

John
