Handy Gadget: Microphone Clamp
I saw the thread about DIY boom poles and thought I'd share:
Here's a little gadget that helps with that and many other microphone placement problems: http://www.zzounds.com/item--LUMM1 It's cheap. I'm not sure if that one in the link is exactly the same as the one I have, but they are made for mounting mics on drum stands, etc. They have a wing nut to tighten down the spring clip once it's in place. The threaded end is made for microphone clips so its quick and easy to use. I just clamp this on the end of my painters pole, spin on the microphone clip/shockmount and I'm good to go. It can also be used to solidly clamp a plant mic anywhere on the set and point it in the direction you want (and keep it there)... very handy and cheap. You can probably find one at any reasonably well stocked music equipment store. Look in the drum section or the microphone/recording section. |
