This is what good sound sound's like!!! 101
Hi,
I have finally taken the big step and have invested in a sound-kit, all seems to be working fine as such, but im not sure if the setup is properly connected and obviously there is the whole issue of settings. The problem is i don't really have a point of reference, as the sound in films has generally bin heavily processed, so listening to your favorite films is not much help. This means I don't know what the sound coming from my headphones should sound like, nor how much hiss is acceptable... So im wondering if there is someone here who could guide me on this. The following questions im trying to answer so if anyone with knowledge could step in it would be greatly appreciated. many thanx Jon How much is not enoch? Or what does acceptable raw sound, sound like? When does it stop being acceptable? Is there a site with unprocessed sound samples, where i can get an idea what the location sound coming through my headphones should sound like? If it sounds good in the headphones, is it "good"? Not just in terms of the quality of the sound but also the "perspective"? Say i want more room sound, should i do this while booming or in post? Will i hear distortion? How loud should the monitoring headphones be set to, are they a reference to what rec. volume i should be at. As a point of reference my sound kit consists of the following (Senn416, Octava102, B6, Shure FP24, M-Audio) |
