The battery feature is kind of nice too. Two L batteries fit in the back of the unit.

The battery option looks a lot like the one on the MixPre series. Two L series batteries will power the unit for a LONG time. We run two of the 550 batteries on our MixPre 10T and it easily lasts all day even with phantom turned on. I figure two of the 770 batteries would last for DAYS.
What would make it even better, would be if the batteries would CHARGE while the device is plugged in, like some of our cameras. |

A bit outside my price range (and weight range! It weights 50% more than a 688), but am excited with what this means for the direction of Sound Devices.
Is a "Scorpio Micro" next?
